This is a French Art Nouveau period poster by Pierre Bonnard advertising the monthly publication La Revue Blanche. This stone lithograph features a monochromatic color scheme of grays and off-whites and deformed shapes and figures that looks forward to the intense experimentalism of the German and Austrian Expressionists. The poster depicts an elegantly dressed woman wearing a hat, holding La Revue Blanche in one hand, standing next to a disheveled young boy. Behind them is a shape that appears to be the back of a man with an up-turned coat collar. The bizarre but extremely elegant typography perfectly completes this wonderful vintage poster for La Revue Blanche.
La Revue Blanche was a French art and literary magazine published by the Natansons that ran between 1889 and 1903. Many of the greatest writers and artists of the time collaborated on this magazine.
