The poster features a Spanish galleon, perhaps a rendition of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo’s San Salvador; a missionary and conquistador; the skyline of downtown San Diego; and the California Tower of Balboa Park.

The poster’s artist, France Carpentier, was active in the 1960s and was associated with artwork of the California Missions.

The poster was lithographed by Neyenesch Printers of San Diego.
