Early 20th Century American WWI Poster ‘Buy Victory Loan’, 1918

SOLD

Out of stock

Early 20th century American poster for Victory Loans. The Victory Loan was the 5th and final bond issue during WWI of the Liberty Loan series. A liberty bond was a war bond sold in the Untited States to support the allied cause during the first world war. Subscribing became a symbol of patriotic duty by many in the United States, and it was the first time that many citizens were introduced to the idea of financial securities. To popularize the bond effort, the Secretary of Treasury, William Gibbs McAdoo, used famous artists to make posters and movie stars to host rallies.

This poster’s only colors are red, white & blue. Its simple design of a bulls-eye bellow a red arrow makes it pop from the background. Printed in the USA, 1918.
