French Art Deco Rolling Paper Vintage Poster ‘Cigarettes Naja Tabac D’Orient’ by Georges Leonnec, 1939

This is an original French Art Deco period poster for Naja cigarettes by Georges Leonnec. It features a white background with a sumptuously dressed woman sitting on a box of cigarettes, a shadow on her left-hand side. A snake is coming out of the Naja cigarette box logo, and an adorable black Scottish terrier peaks his head out from behind the box to look at the woman and the snake (reminiscent of the biblical story of Adam & Eve, and the temptation of handing over the Forbidden Fruit by the serpent to Eve). The exquisitely detailed and wonderfully colored central image sits above large Art Deco typography in a deep blue for Naja with tobacco colored lettering surrounding it “Cigarattes -Tabac d’Orient – Caisse Autonome D’Amortissement.”
This vintage lithograph was designed by Georges Léonnec, and printed by Bedos & Cie, 1939.
