Exposition E. Grasset | Maitre de L’Affiche: Plate #98

SOLD

Out of stock

This artwork is from Les Maitres de L’Affiche series; miniature versions of outstanding stone lithograph artworks of the most important advertising posters by the finest artists.

For his own exhibition at the Salon des Cents, Grasset shows a chestnut-tressed artiste soulfully contemplating a tall-stemmed flower. A prose that is almost medieval in it’s conception, and provides us with a rare glimpse straight into the heart of the moment when observation becomes inspiration”(Rennert, PAI-XXX, 233)

“The Salon of the Hundred, was a small gallery on the premises of the magazine ‘La Plume’ where promising designers displayed their work. The publication’s marketing arm, Editions d’Art, also issued these posters and decorative panels in various editions, often on quality paper as art for the home…there were 43 in all” (Gold p.132)
