Travel poster advertising the Normandie Region of France, 5 hours from Paris. In 1861, a casino was built along the shore, and soon after a train service commenced. This area became extremely fashionable, as you can see spelled out on the poster. ‘La Plus Belle Plage’, or ‘The most beautiful beach’.
The town features the Grand Hotel, restaurant, concerts, orchestras, theatres, and so on.
In the poster we see two fashionable ladies in the foreground frolicking in the water. In the background you’ll notice dozens of people strolling on the beach with the hotel at their rear.
The title font is in red, with the supporting text in blue/black.
The poster was originally designed in two sizes, Travel size (approx. 28′ x 42′) & the very rare Large size (approx. 36′ x 48′). This poster is the latter.
