This is an Italian Art Deco period advertising poster for Vini di Lusso wine. It features many of the hallmarks of Italian design, most of all the bright colors and playfully witty imagery that made the Italian style so remarkable. A bright red Bacchus is in the center of the image with his open mouth facing upwards, depicted in the act of lasciviously eating a stem of plump looking orange-colored grapes. The brown branch that the grapes are attached to extends up to the top of the poster, creating a simple but gracefully symmetrical central image. Above Bacchus is curved yellow text reading Vini di Lusso, and below it says is slightly smaller lettering, the “Italian Society of Superior Wine.”
This vintage wine advertisement was printed by Grafiche-Bergamo, 1921.
