КАПРИЗ ЕКАТЕРИНЫ ВТОРОЙ “The Caprice (Whim) of Catherine II”
Although there’s almost no information online regarding the actual movie that ran in 1928, history tells a very interesting tale regarding the power of Catherine II (Catherine the Great).
When Catherine’s husband Peter was about to take throne, Catherine deposed him, which was unprecedented. Typically, if the next man in line wasn’t to take the throne, it would be the son of the next in line. Because Catherine bypassed this process thru marriage, Paul asserted that his mother Catherine hated him.
In the image, you’ll notice Catherine II dancing whimsically. Her son Paul, the black and white face hanging over the image is not so whimsical. The succession of power brings alot of drama into this real world drama.
