This artwork is from Les Maitres de L’Affiche series; miniature versions of outstanding stone lithograph artworks by the finest most important advertising posters artists. An original design by Willette, in which he drew a little girl kneeling before one of Mucha’s masterpieces (see PL.182), assuming it to be a picture of a saint. Thus, we have “The Pious Error” an amusing little composition that displays Willette’s exceptional drawing skill.
